About Alica

Alicia is 22 years old, full of cheekiness and laughter, and loved deeply by everyone around her. She is a happy, bright soul who brings joy to her family every single day — and this website exists because she deserves every opportunity to live life to the fullest.

Alicia’s Early Life

Alicia arrived 10 weeks early on 30 January 2003, surprising everyone with her early entrance into the world. She spent her first seven weeks being carefully looked after on the neonatal unit at St Mary’s Hospital in Portsmouth.

During those first few days, Alicia suffered a haemorrhage to her brain. At just six months old, she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and Hydrocephalus — a condition where fluid builds up on the brain. To manage the Hydrocephalus, Alicia underwent surgery to have a VP shunt inserted, which helps drain the fluid and keep her comfortable.

Living with Her Conditions

Alicia’s conditions mean she needs 24-hour care, which her devoted parents Lee and Sharon provide every day, alongside her wider care team. She also lives with epilepsy and a global developmental delay.

Alicia experiences daily pain and discomfort in all of her limbs and muscles — something she has faced her whole life with remarkable courage. She takes various medications to help manage this, and intensive therapies such as physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and speech and language therapy make a real difference to her comfort and sleep. Sadly, these therapies are not funded by the NHS, which is why fundraising is so important.

Alicia’s World

Alicia has three siblings — Kayleigh and twin sisters Courtney and Scarlett — and is surrounded by a loving, close-knit family who are her biggest champions.

Despite everything she faces, Alicia is a true joy. She is our princess, and we are determined to do everything we can to make her life as comfortable, happy, and full of adventure as possible.

Why We Fundraise

Our fundraising is ongoing — because Alicia’s needs are ongoing. We are currently working towards getting Alicia a motorised wheelchair, which will give her greater freedom and independence in her daily life. After that, we will continue raising funds for the private therapies that help ease her pain and improve her quality of life.

Every donation, big or small, makes a real difference. Thank you so much for taking the time to read Alicia’s story. 💛
